Kerala state owns another Government Homoeopathic
Institution at Trivandrum. The Govt.Homoeopathic
Medical College started functioning in 1983. The
College is located in a land area of 11 acres at
Manacaud, Trivandrum city with building space of
over 80000 sq.feet. Separate boys and girls hostel
are provided in the college campus.
The
college is affiliated to the University of Kerala
and approved by the Central Council of Homoeopathy
under the Department of AYUSH of Government of India.
The College is owned by the Government of Kerala.
The Five and a half years BHMS (Bachelor of Homoeopathic
Medicine & Surgery) degree course was started
on the same year. Fifty students are admitted every
year for the course. The selection of students for
admission is from the common medical entrance test
conducted by the Government of Kerala. The BHMS
graded degree course was started on 1991. The three
year Post Graduate courses MD (Hom) in two subjects
(Homoeopathic Philosophy and Materia Medica) were
started in 1995. In 1996 another PG course in Repertory
was added. In the year 2004, Post Graduate courses
were started in the subject of Practice of Medicine
and Homoeopathic Pharmacy. Six students are admitted
to each specialty through the Homoeopathy post graduate
entrance test conducted by the Government of Kerala.
The one year Nurse cum Pharmacist course is also
conducted in the college.
Dr.
K. J. Issac was first principal of the College,
Dr.Ravi M Nair, the former advisor, Department of
AYUSH continued after, Dr.Leelavathy Amma, Dr.Abdul
Lathif, Dr.K.B.Ramesan, Dr.V.M.Janakikutty, Dr.T.M.Sreedevi
rendered service as principal to the college and
now Dr.N.S.Valasala Kumari is servicing as head
of the institution. She also holds another service
head as Controlling Officer, which designated to
control the entire homeopathy education in Kerala.
