| A twenty three
year old, emaciated girl consulted me for her swelling in the neck region
since three years. She had been diagnosed as hyperthyroid and presented
the typical clinical picture like palpitation, tremour, irregularity in
periods, hair loss, profuse sweating all over. Her mother informed she
eats well, more than her needs but loses weight; and also said that her
complaints are better by eating. She had tonsillitis in childhood and
recently had suffered from fibroadenosis of her both breasts. She was
unable to sit in a warm room and was very tired. The neck swelling was
hard. She had exertional dyspnoea which was aggravated by least movement
and once she was panicked with sqeezing pain the heart.
