Arogya 2006 at Chennai
 
         CHENNAI. Feb.26: Department of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha & Homoeopathy (AYUSH), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare “Arogya 2006”organized in collaboration with India Trade Promotion Council (ITPO) Dr Anbumani Ramadoss, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare presided over the function and Thiru Dayanidhi Maran, Union Minister for Communication and Information Technology inaugurated the fair. Mr. Vijay Singh, Secretary of AYUSH, Mr Verghes Samuel, Dr.S.P.Singh,Advisor Homoeopathy, Dr.Chaturbhuja Nayak Director,CCRH and other dignitaries also participated in the inaugural session.

         While speaking the Union Health Minister said four such zones would be set up across the country since enormous growth was expected in the export of medicinal plants and herbs in the coming years. ‘In the next 40 years, exports in this field will witness a turnover of five trillion US $ , A natural, medicinal plant processing zone to promote export of medicinal plants will be set up soon in Tuticorin, he said.

         Union Minister for Communication and Information Technology said his department was working towards linking one lakh villages through e-governance to issue birth, death and community certificates. Three books and CDs on traditional health practices were released. “A Hand book of Medicinal Plants used in Homoeopathy Medicines” published by CCRH was released by Health Minster and information Minister received the first copy.

         The exhibition included all alternative systems, Ayurveda, Siddha,Unani,Yoga and Homoeopathy. Many pharmaceutical and Government sectors presented their stalls. The trade fair included free medical camp and public awareness programs on different topics. The four-day exhibition attracted Chennai residents in huge gathering.

Alternative Medicines seek Drug Inspectors

        CHENNAI. March. 15: Dr. R.Gnanasambandam, president ,Tamil Nadu Homoeopathy council spoke on consumer affairs and requested on appointment of Drug Inspectors in Homoeopathy in Drug Department and Indian Systems of Medicine. The experts also pleaded the same in an two days event organized by the CONCERT in association with Ministry of Health and family welfare at Anna Institute of Management.. Sheela Rani Chunkath, Health Secretary, Government of Tamil Nadu inaugurated the seminar. S.Ramakrishnan , Chief Commissioner to information act presided over the function.Desikan , CONCERT welcomed the gathering.

       The two days event discussed ‘Laws Governing Drug Industry and Enforcement “Need for Ethical Marketing”, AIDS awareness, “Ensuring the quality in Alternative Medicines” and “Drugs and Cosmetic Act –Lacunae” Officials concerning the departments and experts in the field, advocates participated the discussion.

       Dr.Ganapathy. Joint Director, Department of IM&H, presided over the session. Dr.R.Gnanasambandan,Dr.Thirunarayanan, Dr.V..Seshadri,Dr.Syed M.M.Ameen, and advocate Martin participated in the alternative Medicine panel. Satwan Reddy, Secretary, Department of Chemicals and Fertilizers, S.Vijayakumar Director,TNMSC, Kamala Christopher, Former Government Analystand Mr Venugopal.Directorate of Drug Control, Chennai also participated.


Plea to the Karnataka Health Minister

       Bangalore. March.14 : Dr. Veerabramhachary, President, Karnataka Board of Homoeopathic System of Medicine insisted the state Health Minister Shri. R. Ashok to open more dispensaries at PHCs,Taluk Hospitals, District Hospitals and ESI dispensaries. Dr. M.R. Srivatsan, General Secretary, Homoeopathic Medical Association of India, Karnataka State Branch also pleaded the Government to extend job opportunities in Corporations, Municipalities, KSRTC, Police Dept., Kidwai Institute of Oncology, and NIMHANS. They jointly presented a memorandum to the Minister. We requested Minister to consider separate directorate for Homoeopathy and budgetary allocation. The also demanded the government to appoint drug inspectors from qualified Homoeopaths.

Dr.Rajan Sankaran Seminar at TSHMC

         AMRAVATI. February.12: Dr. Takhatmal Shrivallabh Homoeopathic Medical College hosted a one day seminar with Dr. Rajan Sankaran . Mr. H.B. Hedaji , the president of Shri Mohini Homoeo and Charitable Society, presided over the inaugural session and Dr. Arun Bhasme inaugurated the seminar. Dr R.D. Tapadia,Principal of the college , Dr. V.R. Kavishwar, principal Panchasheel Homoeopathic Medical College Khamgaon Shri. S.D. Taoriji , the secretary addressed the gathering and appreciated Dr.Rajan Sankaran’s contributions to Homoeopathy.

       Later on Dr.Rajansankaran spoke on “Sensation in Homoeopathy” in two sessions, exploring the layers of about seven layers of disease and multi miasmatic concept. The seminar was attended by nearby 1200 delegates. Dr. B.P. Nimbhorkar organized this seminar Dr. Amit Banerjee associated his works. Dr. A.D. Deshmukh proposed vote of thanks.


Graduation Ceremony at FrMuller Institutions

        MANGALORE. MARch 13: A total of 210 graduates from Fr Muller Medical College, 60 graduates from Fr Muller Homoeopathic Medical College and 168 graduates from Fr Muller College of Nursing received their degree certificates and other awards at a glittery ceremony at Fr Muller Stadium. The 126-institution day and graduation ceremony was presided over by Mangalore Bishop Fr Aloysius Paul D’Souza.

        The Health Card Scheme of Fr Muller Charitable Institution for the benefit of below poverty line (BPL) families was launched by Indian System of Medicine and Homoeopathy Director Dr B N Prakash. Bishop Fr Aloysius Paul D’Souza inaugurated the Fr Muller Counselling Centre for the youth and the ill persons and the Cardio Thoracic Unit was inaugurated by Tufts University School of Medicine (Boston, USA) Public Health Dean Dr Harris A Berman.

        Speaking on the occasion Indian System of Medicine and Homoeopathy Director Dr B N Prakash said that there is no scope for compromise in the medical field and the best has to be delivered to the needy. The practice of this profession is an art and constantly updating and of knowledge and skills is a requirement. Beware, he warned, against being led by materialism and commercialism. Satisfaction, he added can be obtained only by showing empathy, compassion, humanness and love to ones patients.

        FMCI director Fr Baptist Menezes, FMCI Administrators Fr Lawrence D’Souza, Fr Stany Tauro, Fr William Menezes, Dean Dr Sanjeev Rai, Dr S K Tiwari, Sr Aileen Mathias and Dr L L Joshua were present on the occasion.

Admission ban on University

 

       THE Madras High Court has restrained a ICFAI university in Hyderabad for conducting professional courses without proper accreditation, which has a branch in Chennai from taking fresh admissions and collecting fees. The order follows a petition from the Dr MGR Medical University and the Homoeopathy Council in New Delhi

       Delhi High court rejected hearing to a writ petition on the appointment of Interim administrator by the Government and also to hold the election results, which was held recently for the post of president and Vice president until the delivery of Judgement.
