Seminar on psychosomatic disorders
   NAGPUR.OCT.28:IIHP (Indian Institute of Homoeopathic Physicians)had organized a one day seminar at Nagpur. Ved Prakash, Vice Chancellor, Maharashtra Health Sciences University inaugurated the seminar
Dr. Kumar Dhawale, Director, Institute of Clinical Research & ML Dhawale Instittue of Homoeopathy spoke on Psychosomatic disorders and Dr. Parinaz Humaranwala, Vice President, Mumbai branch of IIHP presented a paper on Paediatric therapeutics. Around 250 delegates attended the meeting. Dr.M.A. Rao, Organising Secretary highlighted the need for such events from time to time to update the knowledge of practitioners. Dr.Kochhar, Dr.Kasim Chimthanwala, Dr.Ramakanth Dagade were dignitaries who attended the inaugural
session.

Department for Homoeopathy in Dr. M.G.R. Medical University
 


   
CHENNAI.NOV.19: A resolution seeking the setting up of a Department for Homoeopathy under the University for the development of Homoeopathic Education and Research moved by Dr. Ravi M. Nair, representative of Sarada Krishna Homoeopathic Medical College, Kulasekharam, Kanyakumari Dist. (Former Advisor (Homoeopathy) to Govt. of India) in the meeting of The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University Senate was passed. Following this, Dr. Meer Musthafa Hussain, the Vice Chancellor of the University has given words that the issue would be studied in depth and a department would be formed with a Professor and a Lecturer under it. .


 
Dr.S.P.Koppikar’s, Autobiography book released

     CHENNAI.OCT.29: Dr.Malini Memorial Charitable trust had organized a celebration of veteran Homoeopath, Dr S.P.Koppikar’s 70 years service and released a book titled “ Dr.S.P.Koppikar’s Autobiography” The function was held at Smt.Sivagami pethachi auditorium, Mylapore, Chennai. Dr.K.M.H Akbarsha presided over the function. The chief guest Mr.R.R.Bagri released the book and Mr.MCT.Pethachi received the first copy.

     Dr.S.P. Koppikar was President of Tamilnadu Homoeopathy Council, Government of Tamilnadu for nearly 25 years. He was also a Member of Central Council of Homoeopathy and Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy, Government of India. He was Chief Editor of the popular and widely read magazine, Homoeopathic Heritage from Delhi, for over two decades.

     Dr.P.Subramanian, Dr.Mohamed Aleem, Dr.Jeyesh Sanqui, Member, CCRH Dr.R.Gnanasambandam, President, TNHMC, Dr. P.V.Venkataraman, member, Drug Dynamisation committee, Dr.G.Suresh Principal, Nethra Homoeopathy Medical College along with other friends and relatives felicitated the eminent physician.

Exhibition on Homoeopathy
 

    BHOPAL.OCT.30: HAEVS (Homoeopathic Anusandhav Evam Vikas Sansthan) organized a exhibition on Homoeopathy at Hotel Land Marl Lake city, Bhopal. Mr.D.K.Jain.District Judge , Chief Vigilance officer was the chief guest of the occasion and he inaugurated the exhibition. Mr C.S.Choudhary, Dr.Lalit Jain, President, HAEVS, Dr.P.S.Srinivasan, General Secrtary, Mr, Rajkumar Dhakad, Namrata Shre and Ravi participated in the event.

   
   


 
Health centres to provide treatment in three branches of medicine

    Chandigarh, Nov 19: The Chandigarh administration plans to introduce dispenseries consisting three main branches of medicine: Homoeopathy, Allopathy and Ayurveda in Chandigarh health centres. Nearly ten dispensaries and health centres will be selected for the introduction of the project. Provisions will be made to provide ayurvedic and homoeopathic medicines at allopathic dispensaries.

    The latest data available with the administration claims that while 49 medical institutions in the city provide allopathic treatment, only six health centres are dedicated to ayurvedic medicine (including a hospital), while only four are providing homoeopathy treatment.


 
Work shop on Non-healing Ulcers
 

    BANGALORE.NOV.18 : A free Workshop on Non-lealing ulcers and Leukemia was hosted by Homoeopathic Association of India, Karnataka Branch at “ Soukya” White Field , Bangalore. Dr. S. Vidhya Prakash , Executive Member, Central Council of Homoeopathy presented his experience and discussed in the workshop.

    Dr. Veerabramhachary, President, Karnataka Board of Homoeopathic System of Medicine inaugurated the workshop. Dr. Issac Mathai, Dr. M.R. Srivatsan, Excutive Member CCH were the chief guests.Dr. B.T. Rudresh, President,The Homoeopathic Medical association of India, Karnataka State Branch presided over the function.
Dr. A.B. Jayanth, General Secretary proposed vote of thanks and conquered the program.


 
Homeopathy common therapy in Yemen

  

   YEMEN.OCT.30: Many Yemenis are making use of various unconventional therapies in order to restore well-being. However most of them, especially people living in rural areas, depend on traditional herbal medicine for the treatment of different diseases, according to a new Sana’a University study. 

   The study, entitled Alternative Medicine in Yemen, was conducted by researchers in the Faculty of Medicine and Health science on 2,000 people in seven Yemeni governorates to evaluate the knowledge, trends, and uses of alternative medicine in Yemen.  

   Approximately 70 percent (75 percent of females and 66 percent of males) strongly believe that herbs are completely effective in treating the different diseases.
The study revealed that 60 percent of people older than 60 years of age are not convinced by such homeopathic treatments. Approximately 45 percent of the participants were treated by such therapies, according to the study.

US Health Center hosts debate on Homoeopathy
 

   
Conn Health Center on Oct. 25; six internationally renowned experts took part in a forum on homeopathic medicine .Dr. Steven Novella of Yale University, Dr. Rustum Roy of Penn State, during a debate about homeopathy that was held at the Health Center. Dr. Iris Bell of the University of Arizona ,Andre Saine of the Canadian Academy for Homeopathy participated this debate.

   


 
US varsity tie-up with Kolkata Homeopathy Clinic
 

   Kolkata, Nov 4 : A team from Columbia University visited city-based Prasanta Banerji Homeopathy Research Foundation (PBHRF) for a possible research collaboration and exchange of medical expertise in the field of paediatric oncology. A five-member team from the university’s Integrative Therapies Programme for Children with Cancer visited the PBHRF Saturday, and studied the entire therapeutic method, Banerji Protocol, a new method of treatment under which specific medicines are prescribed for specific diseases after being diagnosed by modern methods of homeopathic treatment, unlike classical homeopathy.
 


 
Gold Medal
 

   Dr.B.Bhavana of J.S.P.S.Govt. Homoeopathic Medical College, Hyderabad received two gold medals and one endowment award from the Vice Chancellor, Dr.N.T.R.University of Health Sciences, A.P. during the XI Convocation of the University held last month. She received Nyapathi Venkata Srinivasa Rao Memorial Gold Medal for securing highest marks in final BHMS and Prof. Nannegari Ramayya Gold Medal for the best performance.
 


 
Homeopathy market to touch Rs 52,000 crore by 2017
 

   Findings says that Homeopathy is the second largest system of medicine in the world.According to WHO, Homeopathy is the second largest system of medicine in the world and is experiencing an annual growth of around 20-25 per cent. It is estimated that by 2017, the world homeopathy market would be equivalent to the current alternative healthcare market, which is Rs 52,000 crore.
 


 
CCH Election
 

   CHennai Nov. 19 : The Union Government has appointed Dr.S.Gopalkrishnan as returning officer to conduct the election of members to the central council of Homoeopathy. Tamil Nadu represents two elected members and the election process is on progress. The declaration of result is scheduled on 10th Jan 2007.
