| attempting to treat psychiatric patients. Andre sainé draws the distinction between neurosis and psychosis, and then outlines the many types of neuroses – Anxiety, phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder etc., The chapter on ‘rubrics associated with such disorders’ helps the reader to know where to find the common rubrics for the symptoms of neurotic disorders. For e.g., Thoughts, persistent, Monomania, Irresolution, Impulse, morbid, Fear, of impending disease. He gives explanation of many such rubrics and the appropriate situation where they may be effectively applied. The most interesting part of the book is the cases, which follow the theory. Andre sainé has described the cases clearly and explained the understanding of the cases and the reason for his prescription. Through such illustrative cases learning of the essential concepts of treating psychiatric patients is effortlessly imbibed. Each case is followed by the verbatim report of the discussion that had taken place between Sainé and the seminar participants. The discussions are very lively and many interesting question regarding such controversial issues like potency selection, LM potency, Repetition of drugs and Hering’s law make the material highly informative and illuminating. For eg., André after his extensive research into homeopathic archives is convinced that the ‘Hering’s law’ is a myth handed down the many generations of homeopaths. He says that herings ‘law’ is actually a rule and not a law, which every cured case should satisfy. The first contains the Materia Medicas of most common drugs found useful in neurotic ailments. This is followed by a detailed account of how to manage psychotic cases and their Materia Medica. The second part of the book is very educative.
Here Sainé talks about the real meaning of classical homeopathy,
cure, direction of cure. Case handling, Case analyses are very useful
for the beginners, as well as for experienced practitioners. Case evaluation
is extensively dealt with numerous case examples. The concluding chapters
speak about the greatness of Dr.Adolph lippe and his contribution of homeopathy,
probably next only to Hahnemann. Sainé has published the complete
works of Adolph lippe. All in all a must buy for any serious student of
homeopathy. It is thousand times better than attending a seminar where
the speaker concocts beautiful stories about his intuitive selection (!)
of the homeopathic remedy (?) based on dream analysis or some of his pet
concept.
