      The Director and the charismatic personality Dr.L.M.Kahn said, ”NIH is an autonomous body under the department of AYUSH, Government of India and it was established in 1975. The Institute, affiliated to the West Bengal University of Health Sciences, presently conducts the degree course in Homoeopathy and Post - Graduate course. The Institute is functioning in its own campus measuring about 16 acres of land. A boys hostel with capacity of 250 and girls hostel with 70 and Guest House are also available at the campus. We also have a Staff Quarters on a plot of land measuring about 9 acres close to the Institute campus.The main beauty of this institute is out patient department,. Daily 600-800 patients are coming!

      While speaking to Dr.Subas Singh, the coordinator said,” We have post Graduate certificate courses in History of Medicine and Organon of medicine besides the regular under Graduate and postgraduate courses. We are likely to extend to the other fields also in future. We have input of 50 candidate for BHMS and MD(hom) now and the entrance being held at Delhi and Kolkatta, our govern body is planning to extend entrance centers at Chennai , mumbai in future. He also added that already a plan for hostel, library and a separate PG section, later the input also increased substantially. We have quota for NRI and students from Srilanka, Maldives and other countries also studying here. We have a herbal Garden “Kalyani”, about 25 acres, 60km away from the Institute to o build up authentic specimens of medicinal plants for use by students and researchers.

      We visited the huge library situated in the ground floor. The librarian along with Dr. …….told enthusiastically. We have collected update informations even from Internet and the “Flash” is indexed properly, listed every month. We have a huge data base for search on any topics” We visited the other departments, classrooms and finally the hospital and in patient department. The dispensary is a vast one, equipped with all potencies. We also visited the dental, othaolmology surgical departments.
A separate building for Girls hostel and another building boys hostel also situated in the same campus. The institute has a very big play ground with a vacant areas for future construction.
