The original name of platinum was “Platina”,
being a Spanish word meaning “Like Silver”. The metal was
introduced into Europe from South America in the middle of the eighteen
the century. It is always found in association with other metals, chiefly
Rhodium, Osmium, Iridium, and Palladium. Platina is heavy metal, placed
between Iridium & Aurum below palladium in the periodic table. Platinum,
palladium, gold & silver are christened precious for the adjective
is rooted in price. They could as well as called pricey – “high
in price, charging high prices’
Synonyms: Platina, Metallic Platinum, French : Platine, German: Platin,
Chemical Symbol: PL, Habitat. It is to be found in plenty in California,
South America and Russia
Description:
A lustrous greyish malleable and ductile metal; good conductor of heat
and electricity. It is stable in air and does not tarnish on exposure
to air . It is insoluble in single acid but is soluble in hot aqua-regia
with the formation of chloroplatinic acid. Its specific gravity is 21.45.
It melts at 1773°. It is found native. Precipitated platinum fit
for Homoeopathic trituration, may be obtained by placing polished steel
rods in a diluted solution of platonic chloride upon which the metal
will be deposited as a spongy iron-grey mass, without luster. The precipitate,
after being off the rods with wooden scrapers, is to be boiled with
hydrochloric acid, then washed well with water and dried.
History and authority:
Hahnemann was the first to think of it as a medicine and his proving
in the chronic diseases is the basis of our knowledge of its action.
One characteristic symptom either when found alone or in association
with other conditions, has led to many cures with platina. Allen’s

Preparation :
In the crude state this metal in found mixed up with various other impurities.
Platinum dissolves in lead & advantage is to take the circumstance
to separate it from other metallic impurities. The alloy of platinum
and lead are melted & exposed to a current of hot air in which the
lead oxidizes and falls off as slog. The precipitated metallic platinum
is then triturated.

b) Potencies :

higher with dispensing alcohol.
