History and Authority :
Dr. Hahnemann introduced this drug in Homoeopathic practice in 1805, Allen’s Encyclopedia Materia Medica Vol.-IV, 1701.
Word Meaning Derived from the word DROSARUS means DEWS.

Description :
(i) It is an aquatic, carnivorous, perennial herb.
(ii) Root: -Thin, fibrous with deep brown colour.
(iii) The plant is almost stem less.
(iv) Leaves:-The leaves spread on the ground .Leaves are radicle, clustered, circular having hairy petioles. Leaves are also covered with long reddish, viscid hairs on the upper surface. Each hair bears a small gland at the tip which when exposed to sun exudes a clear shining juice. These hairs are irritable.
(v) Flowers:-Small, white. Opens in sun shine. Appears in July and August.

Preparations :
(a) Mother tincture(Q)            Drug strength 1/10
Drosera in coarse powder      100 gm
Purified water                       567 ml
Strong alcohol                      470 ml
To make one thousand milliliters of the tincture.

(b) Potencies :
2x to contain one part tincture, four part of purified water and five parts of strong alcohol. 3x and higher with rectified spirit.
