Dr.Sangeeta Dhanuka, BHMS - Mumbai      “A few years back a lady of about 55 years age came to me with sudden urticaria all over the body. There were thick wheals all over with a lot of itching, burning & redness. The burning was temporarily relieved by application of cold water.      I started her on Apis 200 to be taken every 2 hours. The first dose gave her only slight relief but after the 2nd dose the itching and burning decreased. There were no new wheals coming up. However after the 4th dose the itching & burning increased & new wheals started developing again. At that point of time I discontinued Apis & put her on placebo. After this she started improving gradually & at the end of 2 days she was absolutely all right.

Dr.Bunyan, DMS - Chennai      A young woman aged 26, had an attack of Angio neurotic oedema. When she saw me, she had been under CETZIN all along. I suspected some kind of sting either by a mosquito or a very small spider, where the foreign protein injected into the body is retained for a long time and results in the allergic condition in the body. I prescribed Apis 30/ OD . Then on her second visit.      I prescribed Apis 30 BD. and in a week time the entire condition cleared. Two Japanese Girl students came with the same complaint and they responded well to Apis. A lady aged above 60 years, had a large patch of oozing Eczema with a good amount of swelling on her right leg above the ankle. She complains of pricking pain like that of pins and needles, as also the swelling. She was given only one dose of Apis 30 and the lesion was dressed by medicated gauze known as Sofra Tulle. Imagine the surprise of everyone, the lesion has almost become normal on the third day and she left for USA to see her daughter in a week time. Of course carrying a vial of Apis 30, in case she needed it abroad. When I saw her on returned to India. She told me that she had no occasion to use the medicine and her Eczema was cured. In all these cases the characteristic symptoms of swelling with stinging pain were present leading to the prescription of Apis 30.

Dr.Binoy.S.Vallabhassery, BHMS - Kottayam      I have used Apis for Uraemia, Insect bites, Generalized oedema and Arthritis. An ankle swelling on right side was vanished with Apis. In uraemia I had treated a case with very scanty urination, puffiness of face and also with swelling all over the body quickly responded to Apis 1m and became normal within a week.      A boy aged 13 consulted me for itching whole body after taking allopathic medicines for his fever. I prescribed Nux Vomica initially, but no response. He had scanty urination with oedematous swelling of his face, forming reddish, watery bags under the eyes. He also had sore feeling with burning and stinging pain. No thirst. I prescribed Apis mel 1M at hourly interval in water dose. He was all right with in a week.

Dr. R. C. M. Sarma MD (hom) - Hyderabad      I frequently use Apis in urinary complaints and Renal failures. A retired officer aged 70 , years consulted me for his urinary retention. He urinated a few drops with great difficulty. He is a Diabetic and Hypertensive patient, who is on medication.      His face and limbs were edematous; his blood creatinine showed more than 10.2 mgs, Initially I suspected that could be a complication of DM and HBP. The urine test revealed plenty of pus cells.      He developed itching and burning all over the body. I suspected it could be an acute Renal Parenchymal Disease. His baggy swelling under the eyes, thirstlessness, burning and stinging pain directly called for Apis 30/ O.D for a week. To every one’s surprise he was better with all complaints.

Dr. G. Nagendra Babu, BHMS - Chennai      The “Honey Bee” Medicine for me always worked better in potencies like 30C & 200C. I often repeat the doses 3 to 4 times a day. In case of acute urinary infections, especially in females of middle age groups and climacteric conditions, it has been almost a specific palliative; even curative remedy.      It works wonderfully in such cases when repeated with “cantharis”. A case of acute vesicular eruption did not react to Apis. Mel 30. In spite of symptom similarity & frequent repetition for about 4 days. But when the same remedy is changed to 200 potency – totally improved the case within a single day. Presently I am treating a case of post menopausal syndrome with stinging sharp pains all over the body, pruritus vulvae & oedematous swelling of all joints, fairly well with only “Apis.Mel-1m”. In this case I am repeating the remedy only weekly once dose. I have never tried Apis in mother tincture form. “Sudden, sharp piercing pain & oedematous, swelling & puffiness” are the symptoms, I usually depend on, before prescribing “Apis. Mel” both in acute & chronic cases; eventhough Nat. mur is the chronic. Dr.K.R.Mansoor Ali, MD (Hom) - Calicut.      A Lady 38 years old, married since 15 years , longing for a child, consulted me for her Right ovarian cyst with fibroid uterus. She had constant pain in right iliac region. She had acrid leucorrhoea of 10 years duration which aggravates before menses, scanty menses with severe intractable dysmennorrhoea.     She had frequent attacks of urticaria with intense itching which aggravates at night and in extremes of temperatures and having joint pains in lower limbs with edematous tendencies. I prescribed Apis 30 to 1M, with intercurrent doses of Thuja 10M. After three months ultra sonogram showed normal uterus and normal ovaries. Now she is having regular periods with sufficient flow,dysmenorrhoea and leucorrhoea markedly reduced and… she is eagerly waiting for her husband’s arrival from gulf- to be conceived.
