PREPARATION :
All materials whether dry or oily are triturated with sugar of milk
upto 3rd centesimal potency. The drug strength is 1/100,00,00. One grain
of this powder is dissolved in 500 drops of a mixture of one part of
alcohol and 4 parts of distilled water. The drug strength here is 1/5
* 10(²) ³. This is the mother tincture of 50 millesimal scales.
Potentisation :
One drop of this mother tincture is put in a vial of neutral glass,
and 100 drops of pure alcohol are added, so that the vial is filled
two-third full with this, 100 strong succussions are given with the
hand. Thus is prepared the medicine in the 1st degree of dynamisation
or 1st potency.
By this method of dynamisation the material part of the medicine is
lessened with each degree of dynamisation, 50,000 times and yet incredibly
increased in power.
Difference Between Cm & Lm:
- While preparing CM scale there exists one dilution in
99 drops and two succussions are given.
In LM scale there exists a dilution in 100 and other dilution or partition
in 500, more over 100 succussion are given.
Proportion in CM is 100:1
in LM is 50000:1.
- Master Hahnemann explains that the proportion 1000:1
is light to develop the power of the medicine; that the great force
is needed for such succussions to attain the aim, and that when the
power of medicine is liberated, it acts with dangerous violence in weakly
patients; this might be the reason for initial aggravation of the centesimal
in some patients.
In 50,000:1 he says:-With this proportionate higher ratio between medicine
and diluting medicine, many sucussion strokes of the vial filled two-thirds
with alcohol can produce a much greater.
- LM scale allows the development of highest medicinal
power and mildest and subtle action. Recovery of health will be gained
smoothly with out strong aggravation.
The potencies prepared according to this method are denoted by
prefixing ‘0’, representing symbolically – ‘medicamens
au globule’ or by the letters ‘LM’, representing
‘fifty millesimal’.
- 0/1, 0/2, 0/3, … 0/30 [in India and Bangladesh]
- LM 1, LM 2, LM 3, … LM 30
- LM I, LM II, LM III, … LM XXX
- 0/I, 0/II, 0/III, … 0/XXX
- 1/0, 2/0, 3/0,… [in Western world]
